Tippy Toes donated a pair of our Hungry Caterpillar soft leather baby shoes to a charity raffle organised by students at Clacton County High School to raise money for the Rosemary Suite - a bereavement suite attached to the maternity unit at Colchester Hospital.

Together with the raffle, Star Wood and Tayla Maddox, Year 11 pupils, organised a concert and altogether raised an amazing £1820 (see photo to the right).

The beginnings of Tippy Toes baby shoes

As my first post, I thought I would introduce myself as well as the little business I help to run, Tippy Toes (www.LoveTippyToes.com) selling a range of soft leather baby shoes.

I am a busy mum to two little boys - a happy, smiley 6 month old and a cheeky 2 and a half year old.

My husband and I first came across soft leather baby shoes when my eldest son was a baby and he was bought a pair by his grandparents. These little shoes were perfect, mainly because they stayed on his feet! They lasted him for ages - being leather they do have a bit of give in them and do not restrict the growth of the feet - very important when they're so young.

He would wear them round the house, helping him find his feet and get grip on our slippery wooden floors; wear them in the garden on warm, dry days to help protect him from any nasties as well as out and about in the buggy on colder days to help keep his feet warm, without fear of losing them!

So, when the opportunity arose to run our own business selling these cute little shoes, we just had to take it - we knew from personal experience how good these little shoes were, so were confident we could make a successful business from it. I think it is important when starting out any business it is done out of passion and a strong belief in what you are doing.

And so there we have the story of Tippy Toes.
